Step into Switzerland's largest outdoor living room

Artist Pipilotti Rist and architect Carlos Martinez collaborated to design the City Lounge as a public «living room» bathed in red, which spreads across the entire site like a carpet. The flooring, made of red-dyed plastic granules, covers the ground and the public furnishings, including seating, sculptures, and a fountain. With an area of approximately 4600 m², the lounge unifies all the spaces and residual areas of the site into a visually cohesive whole. Here, Rolando Morandi — who, as the client’s representative, oversaw the construction of the Swiss Raiffeisen Center, making it the second-largest employer in the city of St.Gallen — provides an introduction.
