Residential Buildings Outside the Abbey Precinct as Part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site

Although the seven residential buildings are located outside the abbey grounds, they were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List along with the abbey in 1983. The two-story row of buildings is backed by the preserved remnants of the dividing wall. This wall was erected following the Treaty of Rorschach in 1566 and separated the entire area of the Prince-Abbey of St.Gallen from the city. Zeughausgasse is aligned with the Reformed Church of St.Laurenzen.
