SketchPoint 13 – Dreiweieren

Among Switzerland's most beautiful natural swimming pools

Created artificially in the 17th century to ensure a water supply for textile bleaching and firefighting, the residents soon began using the ponds for swimming and relaxation. Back then, the pools were strictly segregated by gender—hence the names “Manne- und Buebeweiher” and “Frauen- und Familienbadi.” Today, the Three Weieren are among the most beautiful natural swimming pools in Switzerland. The charming historic Art Nouveau wooden structures serve as a reminder of St. Gallen’s past as a global center of the textile industry.
