Find your story

Detlef Surrey gives an insight into his approach to complex scenes. The theme of the workshop is finding individual stories in the picture – and the possibilities of emphasising them in order to stimulate the viewer's imagination and thus lure them into the picture.

Close observation and empathy with the scene and a humorous look are more important in this workshop than, for example, correct reproduction of perspective or anatomy. The focus is on the observed persons, their relationship to each other, as well as their relationship to the surrounding space in the context of the scene found and to be reproduced.

"What is happening here? What do I see?" – Tell your story!
