Portrait of a Car: integrating the car into the urban landscape

Drawing a car is often intimidating. Yet it's an omnipresent theme in our urban landscapes. First, we'll draw a "portrait" of a car, showing the importance of the distance from which we stand in terms of its perception, and create a detailed drawing by sitting less than a meter away from the vehicle, giving it a "fisheye" vision. Then we'll integrate the car into an urban environment, using it as a foreground and playing with reflections on the car body. By the end of the workshop, participants will no longer be afraid to sketch a car, yet may find themselves on the brink of becoming addicted to this enjoyable exercise.

Key skills:

Participants will be able to create a rich, dynamic composition of multiple planes using minimalist materials. By taking the risk of drawing directly with a fine felt-tip pen without any prior construction, you'll gain confidence and integrate mistakes as part of the process of sketching on the spot. Finally, we'll work on color harmony with a reduced watercolor palette to intuitively capture the essence of an urban scene.
