Irène Collaud

For the past 2 years, Irène has been giving cyanotype workshops, and she had the opportunity to lead notebook-making workshops on several occasions, which brings her great joy! The prospect of participating in the USK Symposium gives her great motivation to present her book binding work, offer her notebooks for sale and lead bookmaking workshops. Irène is a jack-of-all-trades who loves craftsmanship in all its forms. A self-taught bookbinder, she makes artists' notebooks that she assembles using Coptic binding, a robust technique that allows them to be opened flat. She also likes to make back-to-back, accordion and other crazy style notebooks. Her encounter with cyanotype led her to use this technique to illustrate the covers of her notebooks with fabric prints made from plants she gathers around her home…

Irène will have a stand at the symposium where she will be offering her artist's notebooks, sketchbooks and leporellos, in different sizes and orientations, and on a variety of paper weights. For the covers of her notebooks, Irène favors her original cyanotype prints, as well as Japanese fabrics, topographical maps and other handmade papers. There's something for everyone!
