Beautiful Chaos

There is a thrill in capturing the chaos of busy scenes with the least variety of strokes. It makes the sketch look effortless but it takes practice of seeing rhythms in chaos and mastery of at least one paint brush. This workshop gives you eyes and a pathway to mastering how to fit every scene in a combo of repeat brushstrokes.

Key skills:

Workshop participants will sketch near the pier full of parked sail boats and capture the beautiful chaos in direct watercolor. They will be able to do that because they will learn to:

  • See common repeating shapes
  • Use a square/dagger/mop brush to make a string of repeating patterns

Suggested material:
  • Watercolor sketchbook
  • Pencil and Markers
  • Brushes: At least brushes with 2 different brush shapes: Square, Dagger or Round
  • Tubes of watercolor
  • Stool
