I stopped working professionally as an illustrator about 5 years ago having been in the business for over 40 years. I worked mainly in advertising, supplying layouts and storyboards as well as high-end 2d and 3d illustration.
Lately I create most of my work on the ipad, which I now use to create my own art without any client restraints.

Urban sketching on the ipad
Workshop language: English German
The beauty of drawing on the ipad is that you have a fully equipped art studio wherever you might be! On the train, tram, boat or restaurant it’s easy to capture the moment on the ipad and not be burdened with cumbersome drawing blocks, paints, easels, etc.
The aim of the workshop is to make people feel comfortable and creative whilst drawing on the ipad. After a thorough explanation of the software I will show the class tips and tricks as well as cool ways to capture the subject quickly and effectively. Through simple exercises we will work with layers, masks, a range of brushes and colour effects to produce some urban magic! These steps will build up to give the students confidence to go and produce images that reflect their artistic talent!
I will show the best and most useful apps to work with and explain a workflow using the built in camera and internet to help boost their creative output. Also I will explain
and show how AI (KI) can be used as a new tool to produce art.
The final image can be printed to any size, even onto canvas. Sending images in an email is an easy and effective way to show the work to others.
Suggested material:
- Modern Apple ipad, not more than 3-4 generations old
- Apple pencil
- Procreate (costs approx CHF15 and is well worth the investment)
Unfortunately the software I will be showing does not work on PC or Android. From past experience it is very important that we all have the same drawing platform.
