Isabell Seidel

Isabell is a fine artist, freelance illustrator and educator from the North of Germany, currently based in Galicia, Spain. She specialises in water based media and carries her sketchbook everywhere she goes. Her artistic explorations focus on the tension between the natural and human-made world and their constant changes which she captures with loose brushstrokes in vibrant colours. Her work features in editorial projects, fashion collections, national newspapers and on book covers and posters for public institutions. During the darker months Isabell teaches online workshops, develops personal projects, works on commissions & collaborations and prepares for exhibitions. During the long Spanish summer she

participates with great enthusiasm and success in plein air speed painting events, teaches in-person workshops and enjoys the beautiful surroundings of her studio in the Galician mountains with her family and friends. She started the Galician Urban Sketching Community back in 2011.

On the Colour Hunt

Geneva is colourful in so many ways. Let’s go on a colour hunt together. This workshop invites you to record the chromatic peculiarities of the city with your sketchbook in hand. You’ll learn how to build balanced, exciting, and even unconventional colour palettes based on local colour. You will deepen your understanding of colour relationships, fine tune your palettes and apply colour with more confidence and ease in your sketchbook.

Suggested material:

  • Basic set of watercolors with a cool and warm version of the primaries: yellow, blue and red, plus white.
  • Color wheel (if available)
  • Preferred sketching supplies such as: acrylic markers, coloured pencils, neocolor II, gouache sticks, etc.
  • Sketchbook or paper pad in A4 size or bigger.
  • Regular sketching supplies: water container, folding stool, etc.
