New: Pankaj Juvekar

Unfortunately, John Hollander had to cancel at short notice. Fortunately, Pankaj Juvekar has agreed to step in and held the workshop. It now will be in English.

Pankaj Juvekar (Pank), an illustrator at heart and a designer by profession, is born and brought up in India, studied in Milan, currently based in Zurich. Paper and pencil have been his best friends since childhood, although he is always fascinated by the evolution of technology and tools. He likes exploring new mediums, both digital and physical. He is fond of visiting new places and is an active member of the Urban Sketchers Zurich.

Workshop 1 (English): September 18, 09:00-12:00
Learn to sketch, draw and paint on the ipad, anywhere and everywhere you go!

We will focus on working in Procreate, a drawing program with everything that one needs to create fantastic art. The workshop is intended for iPad users. Ideally everyone taking part should download and install the program as well as having the Apple pencil, essential to be able to draw naturally.

For those not so familiar with Procreate I will demonstrate a quick tour of the UI, including brushes, colours, layers and layer masks, blending modes, selections and gestures etc. There is a great deal to cover in a short time! We will look at the brushes, the mainstay of Procreate, and how we can create a 'quick menu' with favourite brushes. We will see how we can make variations and save our own brushes with captured texture. Further interesting features are the grids of various types such as perspective, isometric, and symmetry. We will also see the ability to record a drawing session and how to export it.

This workshop will show you the tools and how to use them so that we can concentrate on the main goal of drawing and painting! The same artistic rules apply and we will be looking at light, colour balance, tone, composition, stroke making and finally painting. We can then export our image and produce a print or mail it directly from the ipad. We can also discuss printing possibilities on canvas and other media.
