Alois Carigiet meets Urban Sketchers

The Schellenursli has made the traditions of the Lower Engadine (the Chalandamarz) known throughout the world. Its creator – the illustrator Alois Carigiet – grew up in Trun. He worked in Zurich as a graphic designer, later as an illustrator of children's books and as an artist. We want to follow in his footsteps. We want to take a closer look at his drawings. And we will investigate the stylistic devices he used.

The depiction of Engadine houses and villages plays an important role in the work of Alois Carigiet. It forms the backdrop behind his stories. He has staged them in a bold, lively and relaxed way. At the same time he hints at architectural details. It is precisely this balance that we seek in our sketches.

Let us be inspired by his work! Let us get involved with the lightness and verve of his pictures!
