Javier Alberich
Javier Alberich, born in southern Spain, is a freelance graphic designer and illustrator. He studied art with a major in visual design at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Seville. He has been living in Basel since 1998. Together with Rob Carey and Boris Zatko he founded the first Swiss Urban Sketchers group in 2011. He still sketches regularly on the streets of Basel.

People and space
Sketching people is always a beautiful challenge and often a frustrating experience. In this workshop we try different approaches to sketching people on location. We focus on quick exercises that emphasise posture and expression over anatomy and details. We look at the roll of the human figure in our sketches and reflect on how to effectively use our current capabilities to bring more life to our drawings.
